Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks and be thankful for
what you have. For the Larry H. Miller dealerships in Spokane, it is a time to
give back. For the fourth consecutive year, the Larry H. Miller dealerships
will fund the Union Gospel
Mission (UGM) City-Wide Thanksgiving Dinner with a $5,000 donation. Each year, the UGM serves turkey, with all of the
sides and fixings, to more than 1,000 homeless and low-income individuals and
families. The free Thanksgiving feast is open to everyone spending the holidays
homeless, hungry, or alone. This year the dinner will take place on
Wednesday, November 22, from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center.
“Our employees
really look forward to supporting the City-Wide Thanksgiving Dinner each year,”
said Bob McLean, general manager, Larry H. Miller Lexus Spokane. “When they’re
out shopping for their own Thanksgiving gathering, many of them will purchase
an extra turkey to donate to the UGM dinner. In addition, we all enjoy
volunteering together as a group to serve the dinner to our neighbors. It’s
quite meaningful to see exactly how our donations help and who they help.”
In
addition to the financial donation, for every car sold or leased from November
9 – 22, the participating Larry H. Miller dealerships will donate turkeys to
the UGM. In 2016, the Group delivered more than 150 turkeys to the
organization.
For more
than 65 years, the UGM has worked hard to support the needs of those less
fortunate in Spokane. The organization began as a downtown soup kitchen in 1951
and has expanded into a comprehensive ministry with four shelters, three
recovery programs, two thrift stores, an automotive business, and a summer camp
for underprivileged youth.
We at Larry
H. Miller Lexus Spokane are proud to be a part of a wonderful
event to support the community during the holidays and are excited to see how
the community comes together to give back. It is important to us to enrich
lives and make the world a better place. Let us know how you plan on
giving back this holiday season. We’d love to hear about what charitable causes
you believe in and expand our tradition of giving back by including the things
you care about most.
