Larry H. Miller Dealerships Donates Turkeys and $5,000 to Union Gospel Mission’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

SPOKANE, Wash. (November 8, 2016) –Larry H. Miller Lexus, Larry H. Miller Downtown Toyota, Larry H. Miller Honda and Larry H. Miller Hyundai will again present the Union Gospel Mission (UGM) with a $5,000 donation to fund their annual City-Wide Thanksgiving Dinner, which takes place on Wednesday, November 23 from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center. Each year, the UGM serves turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, and all of the holiday fixings to more than 1,000 homeless and low-income families.

“The holidays are such a meaningful time of year meant to be spent with family and friends. We’re pleased to do our part to provide warm meals for those in need in our neighborhood,” said Bob McLean, general manager, Larry H. Miller Lexus Spokane.

Annually, employees from Larry H. Miller Dealerships and their families join UGM staff and volunteers in serving the Thanksgiving Dinner. In addition, each store will collect turkeys to donate to the UGM for the dinner.

The Union Gospel Mission (UGM) has worked to meet the needs of those who are less fortunate in Spokane for more than 60 years. The organization began as a soup kitchen in 1951 and has grown into a comprehensive ministry providing rescue, recovery and restoration, including three shelters, two thrift stores, an automotive business and a summer camp for underprivileged youth.

“Doing business in downtown Spokane, the staff at Larry H Miller Dealerships are well acquainted with the plight of the homeless. I so appreciate that they have taken positive action toward addressing the needs of this population,” said Phil Altmeyer, executive director, Union Gospel Mission. “Their partnership in putting on a City-Wide Thanksgiving Dinner, that is open to everyone in need, says a great deal about who they are as a company.”

The $5,000 grant is through Larry H. Miller Charities, the nonprofit arm of Larry H. Miller Dealerships, which is funded largely through employee donations.
